Brave New World Part 1

Chapters 1-4

  1. "A Brave New World" was not what I expected. The thinking of the author at the time had some perspectives that have a small element of truth as far as how some pregnancies happen now but the author really takes it to a whole new level. While the book is decades old the things it talked about were consistent with some of the
sci-fi movies and TV shows we see now. The new world that is spoken of is pretty bizarre and I am looking forward to seeing what Huxley has in store for us.

  2. Brave New World takes place sometime in the future. In these times there weren't no mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, etc. Everyone was created through tubes and the fetus went through stages. Once born the baby was put in a particular caste and then raised to think the way of that particular caste. We learn through these first chapters that there are people who are and feel different.

I thought that chapter 3 was kind of confusing because it seems that there is a part where each sentence is a different character speaking. You have to pause to try to figure out what character is talking and that keep me a little confused.

  3. After reading Brave New World, the story reminded me of a book I read in an English class called The Giver. They had a similar process of changing how people are born. In The Giver, the society would disable the seeing of colors, hearing music, and pair with artificial parents. Mustapha Mond resembles much of the village elder in The Giver as being all-knowing. Also, I remember reading 1984 in which society, much like this, is split into large global communities which Mr. Foster seemed to compete against. I particularly find these kind of books to be interesting from a technology perspective, but the human conditions compared today are pretty deplorable.

  4. Brave new world has started off as a very unusual book. Not one I would normally read. So far it is about people being born based on groups where everything is the same about them such as one group wears khakis their features what they like are all the same. I personally am thankful I am who I am and only certain chareristics or features are similar but not the same. They have no mothers fathers brothers sisters so it is a totally different atmosphere as technically they truly have no family
